The Power behind Charice's Performance

I would like to share an article which I think is a very inspiring and encouraging insight, obviously observed by one who has already passed this route and reached far on life's uncertain road, with a good share of its many challenges. The perception of these encounters of Charice sheds much light which allows understanding to calm that peculiar feeling of uneasiness stirred up by mixed emotions many of Charice's audiences experience when she awes them with her spectacular performance. I am one of those who, in the beginning, felt uneasy because I did not understand these very strong emotions brewing in me every time I'd watch and or listen to her.

Now I realize that this charisma which Charice apparently exudes every time she performs is the product of her traumatic experiences which would have normally crippled any individual. But instead, they have built up such strength in her character. You would expect one who has witnessed the near murder of her mother by her father to have very serious psychological handicaps. Add on the necessity of having to toil day and night since age 7, to compete in singing contests and special occasions, to be able to feed, not only herself, but her mother and brother and ensure them a place to retire at night. And of course there were those failures and defeats where she had to cope with rejection and humiliation because of her natural appearance and the accompanying degrading and inhumane statements like "you don't have the looks or personality and you're not good enough.” And doesn’t this make one cringe at the sight of stacking all these up on the shoulders of a little girl who is barely 15 years old?

In her quest to succeed in becoming a star to be able to provide for her family of three at such a young age, Charice was deprived of a normal childhood where she should have been going to school, learning and educating herself and growing at a normal pace with children her age, enjoying privileges of play and goofing off times. Her world was an immediate hands-on training of survival where failure meant an empty stomach and sleeping on the streets. Having gone through this at an early age, I cannot fathom how this little girl still managed to imagine, hope or even just suspect that life could have something better for her.

But then again, thankfully, somewhere along this journey of Charice, we are slowly startled by the way the Almighty works in mysterious ways. All of a sudden, her prayers are answered and you can almost actually see the tears from above fall towards Charice and her family. You can almost see angels coming to her rescue providing them with their basic needs, protecting them from the many misfortunes that could have befallen them, opening doors of opportunity, providing all the means to take advantage of those open doors. And these open doors lead to the big stage where Charice eventually has the chance to give it her all. Finally, all these burdens and hardships that caused all those blood, sweat and tears which have given her little and young body the abilities and quality talents of others much older, are put to the test and presented to the much bigger world, the international entertainment stage. Again you can almost see more powerful angels come to assist Charice and stand by her side with unfailing support and love.

In its perfect form and grace the phenomenal talent of Charice astounds the world and proves its quality like gold having been purified by fire. And the world, especially those who have witnessed Charice’s performance, are blessed and awed to see a living handwork of the Almighty. Unlike any material wonder natural to earth that can be proclaimed as having reach the peak of its perfection, Charice is a dynamic wonder who has surpassed our highest expectations and has not seized to amaze us with her continuously evolving transformation, breaking the limits every time and never failing to “drop jaws” and “blow us and the roofs away”. Charice has that strength alright and she also has the weapons, ways and means to use that strength. And more importantly, I believe she has a higher and greater purpose now, way beyond survival.

She has blessed many in so many ways through whatever she does and I perceive it to be a heavenly cause and purpose. To bring light to the darkness and help those who are lost, to inspire and encourage those who are losing hope and disillusioned, to bring joy to the lonely and weary hearts. I am very pleased, happy and grateful to have had the opportunity to witness the Lord’s blessing through Charice’s talents. Although I now understand the nature and origin of her powerful and magical performance, it hasn’t reduced the wonder and awe I still experience whenever I watch or hear her sing. And as I have suspected before, I have no doubt that Charice is God sent. I pray that she continues to allow the Lord to use her as His instrument. God bless her and those who support and work with her to enable these blessings to continue to flow.
